WARNING! There is a current Microsoft vulnerability being exploited in the wild. Attackers are currently exploiting a flaw in both Microsoft Word and Wordpad. This flaw allows attackers to install malware on PCs by sending malignant documents via email that invisibly install the malware when the attachments are opened.
This advice is always true but please be extra vigilant and do not open any documents from anyone that you don't know -- especially if the email seems confusing. Often times confusion is intentionally used just to get people to open the documents.
Microsoft released the patch to fix the vulnerability today. If you are not already working with a Managed Service Provider who provides remote monitoring and management for your computers you'll want to run Microsoft Updates on your systems and patch them ASAP! Then contact us, we can help. :)
